Description

Dear all!
Now you will have the opportunity to suggest which music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart would fit in scene 6, when the whole world is celebrating before the big chaos. A movement from a symphony? Music that involves choir and orchestra? A concerto etc.etc. Give us your suggestion and we all will vote which one's the most suitable.

Copyright status?

Whatever is chosen, do we have someone on staff that can check copyright status so we don't end up with an RIAA lawsuit or somesuch?

Oh, and I would suggest the Violin Concerto in A Major (The Turkish) K. 219, first movement (or a part of it, anyway). You can get an idea of it at , which has the first 5 minutes (how much do we want to use?)

My apologies, this was the recording I came across.

Päivi Salmi December 09, 2011 11:35 Flag

Hi Phillip,
We will not use any videos, sound files here, we just want get some ideas which Mozart music would be suitable for our scene. Our staff will then arrange it, orchestra and choir will present the chosen music.

Scene 6 with music by Mozart

I think these proposals could be well.
1)Mozart: "Die entführung aus dem serail"(Vaudeville: Nie werd' ich deine Huld verkennen)(Fragment)
2)Mozart: "Die entführung aus dem serail"(Chorus: Singt dem grossen Bassa Lieder).
Even I think the third movement of Piano Sonata KV 331 in A Major (Alla Turca, Allegretto) could be well orchestrated, especially for its end.

Die Entführung aus dem Serail overture

I think this is very expansive and buoyant music. Fit for celebration.

I think an excerpt is needed -- playing a whole piece would stop the action for too long. I think an excerpt from this kind of an this kind of overture could work better than an excerpt of a symphonic work.

The world celebrates, scene 6, Mozart´s music

I suggest these:

1.)Käyrätorvikonsertto(Horn concerto)
number 4, KV 495: 3rd part
2.)Exsultate, jubilate, KV 165
3.) Figaro´s wedding, KV 492, Intro

I have also thought about two songs from The Magic Flute: 1.) Number 12, Quintett of women. (Wie, wie, wie)

http://youtube.com/zanSCb2FOtc

2.) Isis, Osiris

http://youtube.com/y6YnAe7TvNE

The fast women´s song and the slow priest´s song could both can be used at the moment when something unavoidable is about to happen, here: chaos).

Joyous, not quiet, Mozart?

Definitely a symphonic work, the violin concerto is a good idea, a celebration! Why are we sticking a bit of 'real' Mozart in here, when we have at least three good composers of our own??? What is the point? Let our own composers make a 'big noise'!!

This is also a good point. Why use anything by the real Mozart unless it is something modern like mixed with hip hop. But if I would not worry about the copyrights, Teosto (our NCB) has all the knowledge in these matters.

Mozart's music.

What about the Symphony n° 41 "Jupiter"? Someone once said it is one of the few things worth saving in the whole world.
